Keenan CDM were recently appointed as CDM Adviser / Principal Designer on two separate demolition projects for a regular Client. One being a concrete products manufacturing facility in Kirkcaldy and the other a large wholesale warehouse facility in Edinburgh. One project has now commenced on site and the other due to start next month.

Anthony Keenan attended this 2 day training event last week in Comrie, provided by The Crichton Carbon Centre on behalf of Peatland Action, in association with Scottish National Heritage (future Peatland ACTION events can be found here).
This was aimed at Consultants, Contractors, Agents, Land Managers and Factors looking to undertake peatland restoration projects. It included an overview of Scotland’s peatland resource, peatland condition and extent, an overview of restoration techniques, an introduction to planning a peatland restoration project and a site visit to view and discuss ditch blocking and re-profiling techniques. With attendees from a wide rage of disciplines it generated some very useful discussion and knowledge sharing.
Peatland Action is the project helping to restore damaged peatlands in Scotland. Since 2012, over 19,000 hectares have been put on the road to recovery with funding provided by the Scottish Government.
The HSE have confirmed that this type of project and the work involved does indeed constitute a “construction project” under the CDM Regulations and as such all Clients, Designers & Contractors involved must comply with the Regs as they apply to them.

A new and interesting project for Keenan CDM providing limited CDM Principal Designer services (up to site start stage) on a category B listed 18th century castle project in the Scottish Borders to create 11 residential flats via conversion & extension of the existing building.

Refurbishment works to the Coylumbridge Hotel in Aviemore for Britannia Hotels who recently added this hotel to their portfolio. Involving a variety of refurbishment and improvement works within an operational environment.
Coylumbridge Hotel, Aviemore
51 apartments built to meet the needs of the retirement market and will include the demolition of existing bar/restaurant buildings. 13 of the 51 apartments will be affordable properties.
Retirement Flats, Scone, Perth
Conversion and refurbishment of an existing category C listed residential building, currently in a derelict condition, into modern office accommodation over three floors.
Construction will involve a complete strip out of the existing building fabric and internal structure followed by new build fit-out works.
