New Project: 60 Affordable Homes in East Lothian

Cruden Homes East

Keenan CDM are providing CDM Consultant Services (Principal Designer) for this affordable housing project on the first phase, Site 1, of the Blindwells Masterplan, for regular client Cruden Homes (East)

The project comprises the new build construction of 60 affordable housing units made up of 32 houses and 28 cottage flats.

These will be predominantly 2 storey with a mix of terraced and semi-detached properties and built in timber kit construction.

Keenan CDM are delighted to be providing CDM Consultant Services (Principal Designer Adviser) on this affordable housing project for regular client J Smart & Co with the end user being Prospect Community Housing.

The project comprises the new build construction of 69 flats in 3 blocks of 4, 5 & 6 storeys in height on a vacant site.

Keenan CDM have extensive experience in the affordable housing sector and the particular requirements of RSL clients/end users, particularly in terms of ease and safety of future maintenance.

Having been involved in this project since 2018, working alongside MNM Developments, Hackland  & Dore Architects and Harley Haddow Engineers, it will be great to see this exiting project get underway on site.

Scotland’s construction sector can now restart work

The First Minister announced today, “From Monday 22 June, the construction sector will be able to move to the next phase its restart plan and then move through the remaining phases subject to ongoing consultation with government.” This allowing progress from Phase 2 to Phase 3 of the restart plan on Monday with Covid-19 Site Operating Procedures in place.

The industry-agreed six-step phased model for the return of the construction sector is:

  • Phase 0: Planning
  • Phase 1: COVID-19 Pre-start Site prep
  • Phase 2: ‘Soft start’ to site works (only where physical distancing can be maintained)
  • Phase 3: Steady state operation (only where physical distancing can be maintained)
  • Phase 4: Steady state operation (where physical distancing can be maintained and/or with PPE use)
  • Phase 5: Increasing density/productivity with experience
